Campground Reviews

1 ESPLANADE, Boreen Point QLD 4565

For families with little kids,
Boreen Point Campground is my top pick for a perfect summer vacation!

  • From Brisbane CBD, off-peak: ~ 2 hours

  • To closest Grocery Store / Pharmacy / Bottle Shop: Tewantin or Pomona, ~20 minutes

  • Clean amenities | Plenty of activities for the kids | Excellent coffee nearby

Anyone who speaks to me knows I love Boreen Point Campground all year round, but especially over summer when Lake Cootharaba becomes a kid-friendly mecca of swimming, watersports and languid afternoons lazing on the beaches. And, with water that doesn't get much deeper than my knees for hundreds of metres out from the shore, it's the only place near water where I (and lots of the Camping Mums!) have been able to relax, even slightly, since kids came along.

For many weeks over summer, you'll find me at Boreen Point,
reclined in an old camping chair in the water, drink in hand, in a total summer-daze.

My favourite things...

  • Lake Cootharaba (obviously).

  • Camping amongst beautiful natural bush.

  • Plentiful and well-maintained amenities.

  • Fires & dogs permitted (check current rules).

  • Coffee nearby at The Top Shop that will surprise & delight even the biggest coffee snob.

  • A really kid-friendly vibe - pack the bikes, mummas!

  • Only 20-ish mins to Tewantin / Noosa for when you need anything (you know things like deep cycle batteries, solar panels, bike tyres, nappies, wine, a SUP etc. etc.)

But, what do the kids think?

"Hey little ones, what do you love about camping at Boreen Point?"

  • Bear (Aged 4) "The lemon trees and swimming!"

  • Juju (Aged 3) "Swimming and kicking legs, and I like making campfires."

Well, there you have it... #itsallaboutthelake
